Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale
Today, upon entering friendly local beerstore, I observed the cases of Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale stacked right by the door. Pumpkin beers come around but once a year, which is perfectly fine because by the time December rolls around I will be sick of them. Now that it’s August, I’m ready to have them and enjoy them and was quite excited and surprised to see it. Weyerbacher’s offering is always one of my favorites, so much so that I was so excited to drink it I took a really crappy picture. Sorry about that kids.
Smells sweet, spiced, pumpkin pie. Very strong malts, no malts, no booze, just sweetness.
Taste is initially strong, conventional on the front of the tongue, the sweetness on the sides chime in, it dissipates for a moment and then the aftertaste is the lovely lingering of pumpkin pie. Drinking this beer is not half as delicious as having drank it.Seasonals can always be a bit expensive and at $11 for a fourpack this is no exception. Its high price is warranted by its novelty. I may buy another fourpack of this… if Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale doesn’t come out first. Christmas in July, Halloween in August.
